Please remember that health benefits provided are generally self-funded and paid from the assets of the Boilermakers National Health and Welfare Fund. View the list of covered services below.

For a complete explanation of the health benefits available to you under the Boilermakers National Health and Welfare Fund, please refer to the Summary Plan Description (SPD) for retired participants. If you need a copy of this SPD, please contact the Administrative Office. We intend to have the Retiree Plan SPD available online in the future.

*Please note the CIGNA PPO network is not available to you if Medicare is your primary coverage. Services covered:

    • chiropractic care
    • skilled nursing facility care

Hospital and medical benefits, including some of the covered services listed above, may be subject to deductibles, co-insurance and co-pays, benefit maximums and other limits on the amount of benefits covered. In addition, as a general rule, the expenses you incur must be medically necessary and cannot be experimental. Finally, some expenses may be excluded or subject to additional requirements. National Transplant Program

Supported by a national network of high-quality transplant centers, our program offers complete care and assistance if you ever require an organ transplant. Personal case managers guide you throughout the transplant process - from the first evaluation and screening visit to a maximum of one year post-transplant. If Medicare or another group plan is your primary coverage, the National Transplant Program and its benefits are not available to you.

Hearing Aid Benefit

Access to coverage for hearing services and devices is a unique health benefit.
